The Center for Public Participation
provides communication and information services for dialog between agencies,
citizens, practitioners and public officials. CPP strives to fill the gaps
in the practice of public participation by identifying and facilitating
needed services. It is the only academically-based program focused specifically
on the theory and practice of public participation.

In the Spring of 2003, the Executive Leadership Institute began entering into partnerships internationally. These partnerships have lead to a number of programs for government agencies, policy makers, researchers and advocates to increase capacity in managing global issues of leadership and governance. |

The Executive Master of Public Administration
offers courses for student groups, or cohorts, at three regional sites in
Oregon: Bend, Portland, and Salem. Regional cohorts are composed of professionals
who are aggressively moving forward in their careers. This degree program
is especially designed to provide experienced managers with the skills and
knowledge necessary to address the emerging problems of the next decade.
The Public Management Certificate has two closely related goals. First, it is designed to use participants' experience to build their basic management skills. Second, it seeks to develop their capacity to use these skills reflectively and critically in a wide variety of situations under conditions of rapid change. |

The Executive Seminar Program is a professional education program for senior managers in public, private, tribal and non-profit organizations. The program uses live case studies of controversial natural resource issues as a focal point for leadership development. |

The Hatfield Graduate Residency Program is a cooperative education partnership between Portland State University's Mark O. Hatfield School of Government and public and nonprofit organizations and/or community coalitions in the Pacific Northwest. These agencies provide paid residency opportunities in exchange for the services of highly qualified doctoral and advanced master's degree students. |

The Legacy Program for State and Local Public Service Leaders is designed to assist participants in using their leadership assets to transform individual and collective visions into institutional and policy legacies that enrich our state and local systems of democratic governance and their service to citizens. |

The Natural Resource Policy, Values and Economics Program is a workshop that is part of the U.S. Forest Service Continuing Education Program. The course is offered at Portland State University and the University of Georgia on alternating years. The goal of this Continuing Education program is to enhance the productivity and effectiveness of professionals whose work involves or relates to management of rare plants,wildlife, and fish habitats. The Continuing Education Program strives to serve the people who care for the land and is designed to meet the training needs of entry-level and mid-career professionals. All resource areas are invited to attend, including natural resource professionals working in state, tribal and other federal agencies. |

The Leadership Education Public Safety programs use
"real-time" cases to develop problem-solving skills essential for managing
scarce resources, multi-tasking conflicting organizational demands, and
