The Mark O. Hatfield School of Government
at Portland State University hosts the internships, each of which includes an orientation session and five-day training institute as part of the preparation for working with a sponsoring state, local, or non-for-profit enterprise.

 


What are you doing next summer?

Considering a summer internship? We are recruiting exceptional students from universities around the country for four unique, paid fellowships to be offered during summer 2009.

Each fellowship is "categorical" in nature-designed around a particular subject matter or set of disciplines. Typically, 10-15 students are selected for each of the tracks, below, with 50 placements targeted for 2009, although sponsors' tight budgets could yield fewer placements.

Sustainability track
Financial Leadership track

E-Government track


Fast Facts

  • 10-week, full-time summer fellowship

  • $5,000 stipend

  • Placements with state and local agencies, and not for profits

  • Assignments mostly in Oregon; some in Washington and California

  • Oregon summers and scenery sure beat the heat of D.C.!

  • Includes 5-day training institute in June 15-19, 2009

  • Applications due February 13, 2009
