Unique Features of the Executive MPA
Practical Experience
The Execucutive MPA Program is intended for ambitious and talented individuals who have substantial experience in public and nonprofit organizations. Courses make use of work experience to integrate theory and practice in the classroom.
A Work-Centered Curriculum and Course Schedule
The curriculum for the Executive MPA Program has been designed to reflect the way problems realistically present themselves in the work setting. For example, students are encouraged to work closely with their supervisors and fellow employees to select course projects and papers that will benefit their own organization.
Courses have been sequenced across the academic year to even out the work-load and enable degree completion within two years. Participants will advise the faculty in scheduling course electives that are most important to their career development.
A Cohort Learning Experience
In the Executive MPA Program, students move through the program requirements as a group of peers, or "cohort." The cohort experience provides program participants with both the opportunity and obligation to learn together and from each other. Students are able to benefit from a high-level of peer camaraderie and the rich and varied experiences of their fellow cohort members.
High Level of Student Support
Students in the Executive MPA Program are provided with a high level of assistance by Hatfield School staff, including registration, parking, book orders, and travel, all of which are incorporated into the costs of the progam.
