Government Financial Manager (GFM) Training Program

"In today's complex and changing world, a professional certification provides prospective employers with a degree of confidence that candidates are prepared for the real world."

-John Radford, CGFM, State Controller, State of Oregon

PSU's Hatfield School of Government and Association of Government Accountants have teamed up to bring you the Government Financial Manager (GFM) Training Program. The GFM Program is a unique onsite program that provides a foundation in all areas of government financial management and deals with all levels of government - federal state and local. The training program is an excellent way to help prepare for the three CGFM Examinations - a core requirement for the Certified Government financial Manager (CGFM) designation offered by the Association of Government Accountants. The PSU-AGA partnership was developed to provide better access, frequency, and pricing for public sector financial management education throughout our region.

It was also created to address two significant, long-term challenges many public enterprises are facing.  The first is the talent turnover caused the large number of Baby Boomers becoming eligible to retire.  The second challenge involves the long-term erosion of the fiscal viability of our public organizations.  Quite simply, we have to get serious about preparing managers for the tough financial times ahead.
