Intended Audiences

“This partnership will help advance our objective of accelerating the preparation of next-generation managers in the increasingly important governmental financial management discipline.”

-Relmond Van Daniker, Executive Director, Association of Government Accountants

You may be taking courses toward your MPA degree, or currently working for a federal, state, or local agency.  Perhaps you are working in finance or budgeting or auditing already.  Maybe you work for an accounting firm.  You may even be coming off family leave and wondering what you’re going to do next.  Think about earning the CGFM credential.  It could open doors for you!

The CGFM curriculum is aimed at four audiences:

  • Students interested in public sector financial management who meet the education requirements for the credential;
  • Public sector employees seeking to take one or more CGFM courses in order to acquire additional knowledge in a specific public sector financial discipline … or … seeking to earn the CGFM credential in order to deepen their professional knowledge or advance their career opportunities;
  • Private sector employees (typically financial management professionals and consultants) seeking to work with, or work in, the public sector; and,
  • Associations looking to promote professional development opportunities for their public sector financial management members.
